Community will host its Homebuying Seminars again in 2025. The English Seminar will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 and the Spanish Seminar will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Click here to learn more.
 
The bank will host two Shred-a-Thons again this year. It will host its Spring Shred-a-Thon on Saturday, May 10, 2025 and its Fall Shred-a-Thon on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Click here for more information.

Community took the opportunity to thank its customers and invited neighbors to stop in to enjoy refreshments, giveaways and an anniversary celebration raffle.
Customer Appreciation
Community Savings Bank is an independent neighborhood financial institution located at Cicero and Belmont avenues in Chicago. When the bank first opened in 1944, it was in a store front just north of Belmont Avenue. It moved to its current location on the corner in 1953. All services continue to be provided from the main office and drive thru.

Community is still locally managed and mutually owned. The bank continues to focus on helping people buy homes and save for the future.

On Saturday, October 12, 2024 Community sponsored the 2024 Portage Park Chamber of Commerce Car Show in our parking lot that included a petting zoo for children.
 
Vintage Car Show
On Saturday, September 28, 2024 a mobile industrial shredder was parked at the bank’s main parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.* for personal papers to be shredded. Destruction of old documents is recommended to help prevent identity theft. Customers and members of the community were invited to shred old checks, bank statements and other documents with personal information at no charge.Shred-a-thon

This event reinforces our commitment to being ‘Your Personal Neighborhood Bank’ and helping prevent identity theft,” said Dane H. Cleven, President and Chairman of Community Savings Bank.
Desiree Reilly celebrated her 25th anniversary at Community Savings Bank on Friday, September 27, 2024. She is now a member of the large group of employees who have worked at the bank for 25 years or more. The day was celebrated with a cake and well wishes from her fellow employees.25th Anniversary
 
Desiree said, “I started here just before my daughter was born. I've grown up here and been through big life changes. I felt supported and cared for and am very grateful that I get to work somewhere like Community. I have made many great friends here.”

Community celebrated Mother’s Day on the Saturday before the holiday by passing out flowers in the bank’s lobby.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024 Community hosted its Home Buying Seminar in English, featuring presentations by experts on buying and owning a home. Our featured speakers had experience in budgeting, mortgage lending, real estate sales, and contractual aspects of buying a home. Topics included how to find and buy a home, apply for a mortgage, repair credit, and qualify for special down payment programs.
On February 15, 2024, the bank hosted a professional networking event with the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce.
